The Kingston Recreation Center is a Non-profit Recreation owned and operated by the Municipality of Kingston. The center operates on a fee basis in order to defray the cost of the operation of the facility.

Facilities

The Kingston Recreation Center contains:

  • Two Gymnasiums
  • Two Racquetball/Walleyball Courts
  • One Golf Indoor Driving Range (in a racquetball court)
  • Physical Fitness Rooms which contain a Cybex Galileo Weight Room and a Cardiovascular Room (no one under 16 allowed without a parent) featuring names like Trotter, Tetrix, Concept
  • A Game area which contains "free" pool tables, "free" Ping Pong, various video games
  • A magazine & book rack
  • Men's and Women's locker rooms, with Steam Saunas in each

Membership Fees

Memberships are available on a yearly basis and are renewable in October of each year. There are twenty-two types of memberships available based on Kingston Residency and Non-Residency. This is also based on if you are taking a Family, Single Adult, Senior, College, Single Youth membership. There are health care discounts offered with First Priority, phs health plans (formerly QualMed), Aetna.
Please provide proof of residence or a current college I.D. / drivers license when applying for a membership.

Call for current rates due to Pro-Rating of all Memberships.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Children
Pre-school and young children may not be left unattended in the Recreation Center at any time, nor may they be left with other children whom are not able to properly supervise or care for them.
Staff members on duty cannot be responsible for the care of any children.

Gymnasium
The recreation policy is structured to allow maximum open activity in the use of gyms. Gym shoes are required. Shoes that leave marks on the courts may not be worn. Participants may use the gym for leisure play. However, when others are waiting to use the gym, the sharing process will be in effect. Teams are not allowed to play more than two consecutive times, the winning team must now take a turn out.
ANY PERSON WHO CAUSES A GLASS BACKBOARD TO BREAK OR SHATTER WILL BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE.

Racquetball Courts
Reservation for the use of the racquetball courts may be made three days in advance by members of the Recreation Center. Non-members may pmake reservations 24 hours in advance. Proper gym shoes are required. Shoes that leave marks may not be used. PROTECTIVE EYE GUARDS ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Steam Saunas
For safety reasons, a youth under sixteen years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Cybex Galileo Room & Cardiovascular Room
Proper use of the equipment is mandatory. Information can be obtained from any of the Recreation Center Staff members working at the front desk. The staff requests that anyone observing misuse of any equipment in any of the fitness rooms should notify a Recreation Staff Member immediately. Youth under sixteen years of age must be accompanied by only a parent or guardian at all times while in the weight room (no children under 16 are allowed in the Cardiovascular room).

Outside Area
Parking is available to members and guests in the parking area adjacent to the Recreation Center (all parking is at your own risk). There is no overnight parking. If you have a problem with your vehicle, notify the Recreation Staff. There will be "No Parking" in the fire lanes. Proper receptacles are to be used for any litter.

Lost Articles
The Recreation Center will not be responsible for articles lost, misplaced, or stolen (this is at your oown risk). Lockers should be locked with pad locks.

Insurance
Accidents and Health Insurance are the responsibility of the member guests.

Annual Maintenance


The Recreation Center will be closed the Friday before and the last full week prior to Labor Day for annual maintenance and repairs.


The Kingston Recreation Center has an array of programs which consist of adult and children's activities. Our adult programs include summer adult basketball on Wednesday and Sunday, and aerobics. Our youth programs include girls basketball, Kamp and Klub Kingston, an indoor soccer league, Willie Obremski youth basketball, and our Puc Pals youth hockey league.

Softball
Our summer softball is a very competitive league that consists of approximately sixty-five teams. The league is featured throughout the week and also on Sundays during the months of April through August. The men's league is Monday through Friday and also in Sunday mornings, while our Co-Ed league is featured on Sunday evenings. Nine teams will be taken a night, except for the Co-Ed night which will take sixteen teams. Every individual participating in the league must be at least eighteen years of age or older. The cost of the league is $350.00. A fee of $15.00 must be paid each game to pay the ASA umpires.

Fall softball is available on the same nights as summer softball. This league is played during the months of September and November. Once again, as with summer softball, we will be taking nine teams per night and sixteen teams on the Co-Ed night. The cost of this league is $150.00 for teams participating on nights Monday through Friday and $115.00 for teams participating on Sundays. Each game is officialed by umpires certified by ASA. Every individual participating in the league must be at least 18 years of age or older.

Adult Basketball
Adult basketball is featured in the Recreation Center from November through March on Wednesday nights or all day Sunday. Every game is played in our gymnasium and is officialed by PIAA refs. This league is Men's only and each individual must be eighteen years of age or older to play. The league fee for both nights is $360.00.

Aerobics
Our aerobics program is a low impact program and is offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 am - 10:00 am. The cost of each class is $2.00 for a Resident of Kingston and $2.50 for a Non-resident individual.

Youth Basketball
As with the adult leagues we also offer two basketball leagues for children. Girls basketball is featured Monday through Friday during the months of June through August. We only accpet teams and individual registration will not be taken. There will be a $1.00 admittance fee for anyone eighteen years of age or older. Our other basketball league is the Willie Obremski Memorial Youth Basketball League. The league is offered to boys and girls between the ages of 8-19. The cost of the 8-14 leagues is $20.00 for members of the Recreation Center and $25.00 for Non-members. The 15-19 year old league costs $30.00 for Members and $35.00 for Non-members.The 15-19 year old league will also have practice on Fridays along with their games. There is a $1.00 admittance fee for every individual of the age 18 years or older entering the building.

Puc Pals Hockey
The Kingston Recreation Center in conjunction with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Penguins, NIKE, NHL and AHL will be sponsoring a youth hockey league during the winter and summer. The summer league is featured during the months of June through August while our winter league is during the months of November through March. The summer league will be on Wednesdays from 1:00pm - 2:00pm for girlsand boys the ages of 6-8 years old and 2:00pm - 3:00pm for the ages of 9-12 years old. The winter league will be on Fridays from 6:30pm - 7:30pm for girls and boys of 6-8 and from 5:30pm - 6:30pm for the ages of 9-16 years old. Each session will take place in our gymnasium. A mouth piece and shin guards are recommended for all players. The price for this wonderful program is absolutely free.

Indoor Soccer
Our indoor soccer league is featured throughout the months of November through March every Saturday morning at 9:00am. It is for girls and boys ages 5-10 years of age. The league fee is $25.00 for Members of the Recreation Center and $30.00 for Non-members. There will be a $1.00 admittance fee for any individual 18 years of age or older entering the building.

Kamp and Klub Kingston
Kamp and Klub Kingston are both eight week programs that run from June through August. Kamp Kingston consists of children from the ages of 5-8. Klub Kingston consists of children from the ages of 9-12. There are two sessions for both camps, one runs from 10:00am to 1:00pm and the other runs from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. There are two to three counselors for each group which have child abuse background checks and are also certified in CPR and First Aid. Each day is anew adventure at the camp consisting of swim day, movie day, and arts and crafts day. Other activities offered in the camp are dodgeball, scooters, kickball, basketball, tennis, etc. Snacks are provided by the Rec. Center for each child everyday.

Kingston Parks

The Municipality of Kingston offers 10 parks in the community. We also offer an 8 week Park Program from the end of June until the beginning of August each year, which includes an arts and crafts project each week and organized games daily. Our parks offer many activities, Basketball Courts, Tennis Courts, Baseball, Softball fields, and various playground equipment.

Pool
The Kingston Pool is an Olympic size pool.

The pool is open ten weeks beginning with the first Saturday following the closing of the schools for the summer.

Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. and Sunday 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Thursday night is Teen Night from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Swimming lessons are held Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 Noon.
